Sustainability is at the core of our business and a pillar of our future growth and expansion. We passionately believe in a future of sustainable aviation, and we want you to join us to help make our vision a reality.
We’re committed to our goal of achieving zero net carbon emissions by 2050, and halving our 2019 emissions by 2035.
By 2022, we pledge to reduce single-use plastics across our organisation by 80%. But that’s not all we’re doing to create less waste.
From preventing the illegal trade of wildlife to our zero-tolerance policy to human trafficking; we genuinely care about making the world a better place.
We continue to be inspired by the words of Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan: “On land and in the sea, our forefathers lived and survived in this environment. They were able to do so because they recognised the need to conserve it, to take from it only what they needed to live, and to preserve it for succeeding generations.”
We’re on a journey to transform the aviation industry. We're working hard to create a more sustainable future for generations and make sure we leave the world a little more like we found it.
We’ve joined forces with aviation leaders Boeing and GE to create the Etihad Greenliner. Together, we’re challenging the norms and making the aviation industry more sustainable.
As part of our newest programme with Airbus, we’re introducing the A350 into our fleet to reduce our carbon emissions even further and bring us closer to our 2050 goal of zero net emissions.
We’re proud to support the UAE as it participates in CORSIA; an ICAO initiative that aims to stabilise international civil aviation net CO2 emissions at 2019 levels.
Sustainability isn’t just a buzz word for us. It’s a value that runs deep within our organisation. From our Green Ambassadors on board to our teams on the ground, everyone who works for us is doing their bit to live more sustainably.
The IATA Environmental Assessment (IEnvA) programme is an evaluation system designed to independently assess and improve the environmental management of an airline.
It’s a voluntary programme that enables us to track, mitigate and manage environmental and sustainability risks.
Etihad Aviation Group has successfully completed and has been awarded the IEnvA stage 2 accreditation in four key areas: Facilities management, flight operations, technical and catering services.
We take a holistic approach to sustainability, ensuring social, environmental and financial sustainability across our businesses. That means making better use of the planet’s resources, having a better impact on our communities and better economic growth.
We are closely aligned with the national priorities of the UAE, founded on principles of sustainable development that have driven our global Sustainable Development Goals. We focus on issues of global significance that are relevant regionally and can be addressed locally, in our own way.
